In my title practice, I assist attorneys, title companies, and clients in clearing complex title matters that come with commercial transactions and litigation. I represent corporate buyers and borrowers in commercial loans. I also accept appointments as Guardian ad Litem for unknown heirs in partition actions, and I am always available for a consult to help figure out a path forward in complex title matters.

Over the course of my career, I have represented businesses, estates, trusts, individuals - and anyone in between. I love bringing my breadth of experience to the table to assist clients work through all of the complicated and/or confusing aspects of the transaction in front of them.
One trait Sonya and I share is our use of plain language to demystify the legal landscape. When Sonya and I work together on estate and trust matters, we are driven to assist our clients by making the overwhelming seem bearable. When emotions are high, when assets are scattered, Sonya and I can help.

I am originally from Florida and have lived across much of the Southeast, though North Carolina has been home since 2005. I love traveling and seeing the world with my husband and kids, and I equally love coming home to the Triangle. In my spare time, I keep my hands busy. I make rugs; I garden; and I love power tools.

"Maggie is a delight to work with! She is a brilliant and hardworking attorney and my go to help with any complicated title matter, including difficult curative issues. I would highly recommend her for any related work. 5 Stars all the way!"

When my clients contact me to help with their estate work, I know that they are putting their trust in my expertise and sensitivity. Since estate planning can be intimidating and confusing for many people, a key aspect of my work is to set people at ease and distill
potentially complex concepts in an understandable way. I take pride in guiding clients through the process with respect, sensitivity and a deep understanding of the implications of the law.
I accept appointments as Executor or Trustee. At Magnolia Legal, we choose to offer this service for clients who do not wish to ask a friend or family member to step in to these roles. My hope is to give my clients the choice to appoint me as a trusted professional who understands your family’s particular nuances and challenges. Estate and trust administration can be daunting at times of emotional processing, and we aim to ease that burden for families.
Maggie and I decided to form Magnolia Legal because we both see the practice of law as a service to our clients. The law is not often intuitive or simple. It is our goal to set our clients at ease by guiding them through our work with intelligence, expertise and empathy. We also share many interests including camping, hiking, cooking and eating soup.
In my free time, I prioritize spending time with my husband and two (almost grown) children. I play tennis, hike, cook and enjoy all the Triangle has to offer.
"Sonya was a pleasure to work with. I found her to be uniquely both personal and professional. She answered all of our questions in a thoughtful manner and I very much appreciated her guidance as we reviewed and updated needed Power of Attorney documents."
